What happens when you see a problem and decide to fix it? You become one individual, changing the world. Just ask Doc Hendley, founder and president of Wine to Water.
Doc was just an everyday “tattooed keg-tapper” musician who thought he could use his ability to tend bar and create relationships with people to bring clean drinking water to the world. In January of 2004 he held his first fundraiser and by August was living in Darfur, Sudan installing water systems for victims of the government-supported genocide. In 2007, Doc started his nonprofit Wine to Water, working to bring clean water to third world countries.
Hendley was named one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes for 2009. His foundation works to help the 1.1 billion people worldwide who lack access to clean water. By using wine events to raise money and awareness about the lack of clean drinking water in the developing world, Doc Hendley has harnessed a powerful social force and multiplied the generosity of many.
